Rain is falling with cyclonic intensity over the whole of North Gippsland. The Tambo, Mitchell and Snowy Rivers have broken their banks, inundating miles of country. The town ot Orbost is isolated, but residents were warned by wireless of the approach of the flood waters and removed from the low-lying districts. The railway service is disorganised. So far no casualties are reported, although there were many thrilling rescues. A fishing party consisting of three men left the lake’s entrance for Mallaeoota in a ketch and have not since been heard of.
