THE CANCER SCOURGE.

AN IMPORTANT DISCOVERY.

CAUSE OF THE DISEASE. NEW HOPE RAISED. By Telegra-ph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, July 12. The Daily Express announced that the National Institute of Medical Mount Vernon, Hampstead, after four years’ work has won the international race for the benefit of humanity by the discovery of the organism which causes cancer, the disease which is responsible for one out of every seven deaths of persons over fifty years of age. The Daily Express adds: “False expectations should not be created. It is the cause, not tne cure of cancer, which has been discovered, but the discovery gives a definite hope of grappling with the disease. Full details of the discovery will be published this week.” The Sunday Times states that within a few days the world will learn the lull story of the discovery of the cause of cancer. The assertion is made by a disinterested team of expert investigators who have succeeded in isolating the secret micro-organism trom the cancer cell with which it is in combination. The chemical factory has experimentally infected birds and mammals with cancer, while birds and mammals are correspondingly rendered immune. The experiment reveals a new organism which passes filters and cannot be seen microscopically with ordinary light, but is exposed by the aid of novel agencies.
