Kent made 179 in the first innings, Richmond taking three wickets for 16, and in the second 338 (Ashdown 64, Woolley 05, Chapman 49). Notts won by three wickets. For Yorkshire, against Worcester, Leyland made 138; Macauley took five wickets for 71 in the first innings and five wickets for 96 in the second. Yorkshire won. For Lancashire, against Northants, McDonald took five wickets for 64. Lancashire won. For Essex, against Leicester, Russell made 104 and O’Connor 142. For Leicester, Skelding took five wickets for 103. Essex won. For Gloucester, against Glamorgan, Dipper made 102, and for Glamorgan Arnott took five wickets for 27. Gloucester won. ENGLISH AVERAGES. - Received July 18, 515 p.m. London, July 12. Batting averages are: —Hobbs, total 1781, average 80.95; Hendren, 1554 and 70.63; Holmes, 1535 and 70.09; Carr, 1120 and 62.02.
