RED CROSS SOCIETY.
NEW PLYMOUTH BRANCH. The New Plymouth branch of the British Red Cross Society met last night.. Present: The Rev. T. R. Richards (clia)rman), Mesdames F. E. Wilson and ’ A. Alexander, Miss Irvine (treasurer’), Messrs. A. B. Gibson and H. C. Morgan, and Miss O. Penman (hon. secretary). The chairman drew attention to the fact that the society’s finances, were in a v.ei’y unsatisfactory condition; in fact tin branch was virtually bankrupt. He thought that st special meeting of the committee! should be called, and arrangements made for.-a etjeet or ft house to bouse collection. Tn reply to a question, the chairman elated that the branch had about £2O in hand, -while about £l7 was owing locally am? £35 to the. Dominion headquarters. .It was decided to call a meeting of thei executive for next Thursday night in Order to' discuss the matter. Votes of thanks ivere accorded to Mr. W. J. Charney for giving a gramophone recital last Thursday, and to Mrs. F. E. Wilson for her" organisation work. Mri Morgan was authorieed to make arrangements for’ having a clothes' cupboard constructed.for Sister Webster.’
