THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL.
MSIT TO NEW PLYMOUTH. PROGRAMME APPROVED. The Mayor (Mr.,. F. E.-Wilson) has been advised by the Governor-General’s private secretary that His Excellency has approved of- the- programme of engagements suggested for his visit to New Plymouth, with a few minor amendments. The party will consist of Their* Excellencies Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergusson, their daughter, and probably Miss Orr-Ewlng. Sit Charles, while appreciating .the opportunity proposed to be offered of seeing some of the scenic beauties of New Plymouth, thipks that, on his .first visit, which is necessarily ' short, he should devote his time to getting into elose touch with the people of the district, and he prefers to devote the time on Friday morning to visiting as many of Jhe local schools as possible. Their Excellencies have .also expressed a desire to visit such institiitions 1 as the Y.W.C.A., and to see the Boy Scouts’ and the ladies and gentlemen, composing the committees in charge of this movement. The programme of ’engagements, then, is as follows: WEDNESDAY, JULY 15. Arrive by. mail train at 7.43 p.m., where the vice-regal-party’will be officially met by the Mayor. At 9 p.m. their Excellencies 1 will be’privately entertained by the Mayor and Mayoress. .. THURSDAY, JULY 16.. At 10 a.m., visit public hospital; 11.30 a.m., civic reception. Afternoon.—Hunt Club Steeplechase at Omata. Evening (8 o’clock). —Choral Society concert, Empire Theatre. FRIDAY, JULY 17. Morning.——Visit Girls’ and Boys’ High 'Schools,• Technical College and Primary Schools. Afternoon. —Presentation of shooting trophies to Technical College and High School cadets; presentation to Mrs. Dockrill; inspection of -H.M. Veterans. Evening—The Mayor and .Mayoress will be the guests of Their Excellencies at dinner and afterwards His Excellency will pay a visit to the. Returned Soldiers’ Association. -. ■ ■ ■No time has yet been fixed for the visit to the Y.W.C.A.SATURDAY, JUIA Iff./. ' The yice-regal party leave by the mail train, to return ’to Wellington.
