ARREST OF BANKRUPT.
SENSATIONAL CHARGES, CORRUPT PRACTISES ALLEGED, FIRM WITHOUT ASSETS. FT"''" By Telegraph—Frew Association. Wellington, Last Night. Sensational allegations of corrupt practises were made at a meeting of creditors of R. Ginsberg to-day. Seventy creditors were preßent, including fifty solicitors. It wag alleged that Ginsberg, who had been carrying on the business of an indent agency known &s the Belgrave Novelty Company, had employed travellers and others who put down bonds of sums mostly in the vicinity of £2OO. These bonds when they left their employment, it was alleged, were retained by Ginsberg. Debtor was subjected to a long bombardment of questions, and it was ascertained that his assets were nil. His counsel said that moneys might be forthcoming, but- these would not pay the whole of the bonds back. The meeting decided to request Ginsberg to file a petition in bankruptcy within 48 hours. The names and addresses of the creditors were taken with a view to assisting the police •in their investigations.
To-night Ginsberg was arrested on a charge of stewing £lOO, which he held in trust for W. H. Trilford. Other charges are said to be pending.
