The results of the cricket matches were as follow: Marylebone defeated Cambridge by 333 runs. In the first innings Marylebone made 386 (Titehmarsh 110, Hendren 68, Franklin 59), and in the second declared with four wickets down for 222 (Hendren 54). Cambridge’s first innings score was 133 (Bennett 51), and in the second strike the university team made 144, Haig capturing five wickets for 34. Yorkshire beat Surrey by ten wickets. Surrey’s first strike produced 105, five wickets falling to Macaulay for 36 and three to Kilner for 18. In the second innings Surrey made 175 (Shepherd 65 not out). Macaulay took six wickets for 68. Yorkshire, in the first innings, made 233 (Holmes 86). Sadler took fouT wickets for 45 and Fender four for 43. hi the second innings Yorkshire made 49' to win without loss. Lancashire defeated Nottingham in the first innings. In the first strike Lancashire made 329 (E. Tyldesley 114, Makepeace 76, Hallows 68), and in the second 251 (Watson 62, Barnes 50). In the second innings Richmond captured four wickets, for 41. Nottingham, in the first innings, made 242 (George Gunn 68, Walker 52) and in the second innings lost three wickets for 178 (Carr 102 not out). Leveson-Gower’s eleven defeated Oxford by an innings and 47 runs. Oxford made only 56 in the first strike, Bettington taking six wickets for 25 and Alien three for 19. In the second effort the university team made 182 (Allen taking five wickets for 58). LevesonGower’s eleven made 285 (Stevens 66, Naumann 69). Hewitson took four wickets for 44, For Sussex against Warwick Barley made 132 and Holmes 100 not out. For Warwick Parsons made 124, Smith 139 not out, and Calthorpe 109 not out. Warwick won. For Northamptonshire against Essex Jupp took five wickets for 34, and for Essex Hipkin took six for 28. Northamptonshire won. For Hampshire 1 against Leicester Brown took six wiekets for 35 in the first innings and Kennedy five for 29 in the second. Hampshire won. For Glamorgan against Gloucester Mercer took five wickets for 38 in the first innings and six for 47 in the second. For Gloucester Parker took seven wickets for 52 and seven for 93. Gloucester won. For Kent against Derby Hardinge made 144 and Seymour 119, while Cornwallis took five wickets for 56. For Derby Horsley took five-'wickets for 36. Kent won.
