HIDDEN HAND?
DRAMATIST DENOUNCED. London, June 8. “1 had never seen a piny before, but I took my courage in both hands last week and went to see three of London’s most widely-advertised dramas,” said the Rev. Dr. J. S. Holden, M.A., preaching at St. Paul’s Church, Portman Square. “If these plays are a fair sample of those at present being served in thd theatre,” he continued, “we are simply mad to allow it. They are as dangerous as an open drain, a grinning menace to the nations moral well-being and prosperity.
“What hidden hand is protecting these carrion dramatists who have disguised dirt with smart double entendre? Why doesn’t the censor act? “I indict him for a grave dereliction of duty, and demand his examination and dismissal.’*
