MARKETS STILL RISING. BUTTER FIRM AT 160 s TO 182 s. CHEESE MARKET REACHES 100 s. The rise in values of New Zealand dairy produce on the London market is still being maintained according to private cable advices dated London, Thursday, and received in New Plymouth yesterday. On a firm market salted butter was being quoted at 180 s to 182 s, and uusalted at 190 s. After having reached 100 s, at which figure some sales were reported,’ the cheese market was reported in the cable as being quiet at 90s for both white and coloured New Zealand. Last week frke report was: “New Zealand choicest salted butter is quoted at 178 s to 180 s, exceptionally choice at 184 s and unsalted at 186 s. Australian salted is quoted at 170 s to 1745, and unsalted at 178 s to 180 s. Danish is arriving plentifully since the cessation of the strike, and is quoted at about 188 s. The market is firm, with a good demand, apparently due to the extremely hot weather and the prospect of a continuance, which is causing talk about the prospect of a drought, making retailers anxious regarding their stocks, despite the fact that there is a large quantity of butter in store and current arrivals arc still considerably exceeding consumption. The cheese market is firm. NewZealand is quoted at 97s to 98s. Australian has temporarily closed.” The latest quotations are equivalent to approximately Is 5d per lb. f.oJb. for salted butter and Is fid for unsalted, the butter-fat payments being approximately Is 6.35 d per lb. to suppliers of collected home separated cream and Is 5.40 d to whole milk suppliers whose output was made into salted butter and Is 7.66 d and Is 6.sfid per lb. respectively to suppliers whose output was made into unsalted butter. For cheese the quotation is equivalent to approximately 833 d per lb. f.0.b., the butterfat payment being Is 6.89 d for JanuaryFebruary make and Is fid for March, April, May makes. MARKETS FIRM.
