MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

NEW PLYMOUTH SITTING. CIVIL CASES. A sitting of the Magistrate’, Court was held at New Plymouth yesterday, Mr. A. M. Mowlem, SIM., presiding. Judgment by default for the amounts stated was given for the plaintiffs in the following undefended cases:—D.V.A. in the bankrupt estate of Joseph C. Kenny v. A. H. Henderson, La 17 s (costs £1 13s bd); H. Brown and Co. Ltd. v. Walter E. Willis, £O7 2s (£2 10s); William Seamark v. J- Nimmo, £4O ( £4 9s (id). Thomas Duffin was ordered to give up possession of a beach cottage occupied by him within three days. Judgment was also given for his landlady, Winifred Myrtle Tichbon, for the rent outstanding, £l5, with costs £2 10a 6d. Tiriti Wharepouri, of Pungarehu, was ordered to pay a judgment debt of £7 6s 6d owing to John Harte forthwith, in default seven days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as £1 per month is paid in reduction of the debt, the first payment to be made one month from date. No order was made in a suit on a judgment summons brought by McGruer’s Ltd against B. Wall, of Opunake. After the debtor had been examined counsel for the creditor (Mr. L. M. Moss) said he would not ask for an order under the circumstances. BREACHES OF BY-LAWS. Because the brakes of a motor omnibus of which he was the driver wero defective, Percy Georgs Law was fined £2 with costs 7s. For leaving their motor cars in the street at night without proper lights, Albert E. J. Keys was fined 20s with costs 7s, M, C. E. Dahl was convicted and ordered to pay costs 7s, and Fred. Whitaker was fined 5s with costs 7s. Robert H. Giddy was fined 20s with costs 13s for allowing stock to wander on the road. For riding bicycles at night without lights fines of 10s with costs 7s were imposed on John Baddeley. Thomas ■Dean and Walter Hugh Thomas. OTHER CASES.

Harold John Faulkner was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment in Mount Eden for failing to comply with a maintenance order for the support of Ilia child. The arrears up to February 5 amounted to £27 ss.

The Magistrate said that a reasonable excuse had been advanced by Arthur Jones, of Okoke, and merely convicted and discharged him on three charge, under the Motor Vehicles Act of having failed to register his motor-car, not having a license for the vehicle, and for driving the car without a motor driver’s license. The car was a new one, ana defendant had registered when he cam, into town.

W. B. Harlow, storekeeper, Fitr.roy, was mulcted in the turn of 20s with court costs 2s a* a penalty for a breach of the grocers’ award caused by not dosing his store at the proper time on the statutory half-holiday.
