CALCUTTA TEA SALES. , Received June 18, 5.5 p.m. Calcutta, June 17. At the tea sales prices generally were firm at about late rates. There was a good demand for fannings and well made leaf grades, with an improving tendency for ordinary liquoring kinds. There was less demand for dusts, which are firm. BUTTER AND CHEESE. M. S. Turner (Wellington) is in receipt of a cable from Messis. J. and J. Lonsdale and Co. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. Christchurch, June 17. The entries at the weeniy market at Addington to-aay were inclined to be on the light side as compared with last week’s sale. Store Sheep.—Only a small entry was penned, mostly hoggets, which realised from is 6a to 2s 6d per head above lace rates. Good four and six-toothed Romney ewes in lamb 41s 6d, sound-mouthed Romney cross ewes m /iamb 35s 9d to 39s 6d, two-toothed Romney ewes in lamb 37s 6d, failing-mouthed half bred [ewes 24s to 31s, aged halfbred ewes 18s 6<l |to 22s 6d, aged and inferior ewes 12s to 16s. I Forward hoggets 24s 6d to 275, good half. I bred wether hoggets 23s to 255, inferior crossbred hoggets 17s to 18s Bd. Forward four and six-toothed wetners 34s 4d, ordinary four and six-toothed wethers 29s to 325. I l/'at Lamos.—ll4o were sent forward as against 2000 last week. Many of indifferent quality were penned, and there was a decline lof from 2s to 3s per head. Prime lambs 375, ' medium 31s 6d to 345, light 28s to 31s, store 23s to 275. ' Fat Sheep.—A few more than 11 full races | were penned, some good drafts of ewes and wethers being included. Except for best I quality lines, prices were lower by Is (id to 2s 6d per head than last week. Extra prime wethers made 50s 6d, prime 42s to 455, medium 38s 6d to 41s, light 33s to 375, extra prime ewes 42s 6d, prime 34s to 36s 9d, medium 30s 6d to 33s 6d, light 25s to 29s 9d, aged 203 to 24s 6d. Fat Cattle.—49o were forward as against 650 last week. The quality was particularly poor. Extra choice beef made lip to 40s per 1001 b., prune 35s to 375, medium 32s to 345, light 26s to 31s, rough from 16s to 245. Extra prime steers realised £22 7s 6d, prime £l3 17s 6d to £l7 10s, medium £l2 to £l3 10s, light £8 5s to £ll 15s. Extra prime heifers £lO 17s 6d to £l2 7s 6d, prime £7 15s to £lO 7s 6d, ordinary £5 to £7 ss, extra prime cows £ll 12s 6d, prime £7 to £9 ss, medium £5 to £6 15s, light £4 to £4 15s, aged and inferior £3 10s. Vealers.—Runners made to £6, good vealers £4 to £5 ss, medium vealers £3 to £3 15s, small 10s to 255. Store Cattle.—A small entry was forward, mainly nondescript cows. Best cows made £2 12s 6d to £4, medium £2 to £2 10s, inferior £1 to £1 15s, bulls to £€, old cows £1 10s to £3. Fat Pigs.—Values were well maintained. Choppers made £3 10s to £B, light baconfirs £3 15s to £4 7s 6d, heavy £4 10s to £5 ss, extra heavy £5 13s (average price per lb. 7ct to 7%d), light porkers £2 4s to £2 14s, heavy £2 17s to £3 5s (average price per lb. 6%d to 7%d). Store Pigs.—A good rise was shown on late rates. Weaners made 15s to 20s, small stores 23s to 28s, medium stores 35s to 435, large stores up to 48s.
