TRAIN SMASH.
29 KILLED; 69 INJURED. LIGHTNING TWISTS RAILS. DISASTER IN AMERICA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. New York, June 16. Twenty-nine persons were killed . and sixty-nine, many of whom may die, were injured when a passenger train was wrecked near Hackettstown, New Jersey, early this morning. During an electrical storm the tracks were twisted by lightning and undermined by rains. The passengers were mostly aliens who intended to sail to-day for Europe. They were asleep when the crash came and fought madly in the steam-filled cars.
