FIRE IN HOSPITAL.
PATIENTS REMOVED SAFELY. SMART SAVE BY BRIGADE. PAMAGE NOT EXTENSIVE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, Last Night. Late this afternoon black smoke was seen issuing from the roof of St. Helen s hospital, and the patients, under the care of the nursing staff, were speedily removed. The fire brigade made a very prompt appearance. , The blaze had originated in the kitchen, the ceiling and the top of the wall being alight. The brigade made a smart save, the fire being soon under, but several rooms were damaged through water. The building is built partly of wood and partly of iron, and consists of twenty rooms *and three wards.
