The flood at Bega, where a large area was inundated, claimed two victims, Henry Duncan and Ted Walker. The men were crossing. Yarrung flat in a dray and were cut off by flood waters. A party attempting their rescue got into difficulties. Two of the party were washed away, but they managed to reach the bank. In the meantime Duncan and Walker disappeared. The bodies have not been recovered. The flooded rivers have mostly subsided. The Hawkesbury River rose 31 feet and submerged a wide stretch of low lands, the residents of which were removed in time to safety. Both along the Hawkesbury and Shoalhaven Rivers heavy damage has been caused to the unharvested maize crops. There has also been considerable losses in live stock as well as damage to property.
