MEAT POISONED.
A TRAGEDY AVERTED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received May 11, 9.30 p.m., London, May 11. A Glasgow shopkeeper spent all anxious night owing to the fact that he sold a butcher a pound of salts of sorrel for preserving meat instead of saltpetre. ' When the shopkeeper discovered his error and that he sold a deadly poison he ran to the butcher’s shop; but found it closed. He returned at ..dawn and awaited its opening, when: he was relieved to find that none of the poisoned meat had been sold, though it had been laid out on the counter in readiness.
