EATEN BY A SHARK.
FATE OF TRAWLER’S COOK. SEA MYSTERY SOLVED. There has been a remarkable sequel to the disappearance at sea of the cook of the Sydney trawler Gilbert San. E'arly in February the Gilbert San was fishing- off the coast between Sydney and Montague Island, when the cook, whose name was Dietrich, disappeared. A search was made, but it proved fruitless. The trawler returned to Sydney and reported the matter to the authorities. An inquest was held, but no definite conclusion of how the man came hy his death; other than that of drowning, was arrived at.
Recently the Gilbert San returned to the same fishing grounds, and it was while operating there that a .shark was hauled on board. When opened the ■bones of a man’s leg were found, and also a pair of black boots with black patent toecaps. These boot? corresponded with those that the missing cook last wore.
It is believed that Dietrich fell overboard and was taken by the shark, which was afterwards caught.
