THE SAWDUST RING.
PERRY’S CHOIS RETURNS. A bright and varied entertainment was provided by Perry Bros.’ circus oil their return visit to New Plymouth last night. The health restrictions, of course, prevented the children from attending the performance, and as a result of the younger patrons being debarred it was not a very large audience which witnessed the thrilling “stunts” which were so successfully performed during the evening. Perry Bros, have certainly a wonderful combination of acrobats, and a feature of the evening’s entertainment was a wonderful series of gymnastics. A troupe of little girls did very fine work on the trapeze, and with the men took part in some clever balancing feats. The star item of the programme was Mr. Perry’s performance on the wire rope. Mr. Perry appeared as much at ease on the shining thin line as he was on the ground, and his wonderful variety of “stunts” was something entirely new to a New Plymouth audience. One of the most remarkable of his feats was the turning of a back somersault in midair and landing again with the greatest accuracy on his feet on the wire. All the animals were on view to the public who sought admission to the circus. A number of the animals played an important part in the entertainment, Including the performing lions, handled by Mons. Arte, who made his first appearance in New Plymouth. “Lone Star,” In the final item of the programme, ably upheld his reputation as a champion jumping horse, having cleared 7ft. fitiin. in Australia. Perry Bros.’ Circus and Zoo are showing at Inglewood to-night and Patea to-morrow.
