JERSEY CATTLE.
FIELD DAY AT KAPONGA. RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A large number of Jersey farmers Jttended the annua] held day and demonstration of the Kaponga branch of the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breed»rs’ Association at Kaponga yesterday. Mr. H. E. B. Watson, official demonstrator to the New Zealand Association, was present, and was accorded a warm Welcome. The arrangements for the demonstrations .were in the hands of a strong committee, and all are to be heartily congratulated on the result achieved. The officials were: President, Mr. D. P. Malone; vice-president, Mr. S. J. Holland; secretary, Mr. M. W. Priest; committee, Messis. H. P. Mellow, W. A. Guy, R. J. Norrie, G. Cowling, and A. J. Nicholson. Various special prizes in the form of gold medals were donated by Dalgety and Co., Lonsdale and Co., Mills, Sparbrow and Co., Mr. H. Mellow, Mr. A. W. Mr. D. P. Malone and Dodge Bros. The committee, however, has not decided to which classes these medals will be awarded, but their decision will he announced shortly. Mr. Watson was welcomed by the president, who expressed pleasure at the large attendance and expressed the hope that all would continue to take the keenest interest in the association’s work and benefit by what Mr. Watson had to tell them. A full report of the demonstration will be published in the Daily News later. The results of the judging in the various classes were as follow: — Class 1., aged bulls.—D. P. Malone’s Cloverlea Conclusion 1; D. P. Malone’s Perfection Twylish 2; K. Rothe’s Marmlan’s Lad 3. Class 2, eighteen months’ bulls.—S. J. Bollard’s Burnside Kiwi 1; D. P. Malone’s Cloverlea Dictator 2; K. Rothe’s Billberry Renown 3. Class 3, weaner bulls.—S. J. Bollard’s Burnside Clive 1; E. Joyce’s Greendale Conqueror 2; K. Rothe’s Promises K.C. 5.
Class 4, aged cows —D. P. Malone’s Jenny’s Princess Maid 1; D. P. Malone’s Illusion 2; R. Dagg’s Briarbank Princess Jenny. 3. Class 5, two-year-old milking heifers. H. P. Mellow’s Lady Paulet 1; H. P. Mellow’s Ribbonwood Lucy 2; S. J. Hoilard's Burnside Jewel 3. Class 6, eighteen months’ heifers.—D. T. Malone’s Cloverlea Happy Maid 1; E. Joyce’s Greendale Farce 2; K. Rothe’s Rebel Queen 3.
