Donald Stewart, a Maori, of 17 yearn, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court today with attempted murder by placing caustic soda in a bottle of medicine being used by Paranihia Walker, aunt of accused, who stated that Stewart had admitted to her that he put poison in the medicine to kill her as she was his trustee. Mini Watson, a young Maori girl, was previously charged with this offence and acquitted, the present case arising out of her confession. At the conclusion of the hearing of evidence the accused pleaded guilty and was committed for sentence.
