ANNUAL MEETING. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held last Wednesday. There was a good attendance. Correspondence was read from Miss Ambury, asking that she should be transferred to the Hamilton Union, and from Miss Taunt, resigning her position as treasurer. She has held office for many years and is retiring on account of illhealth. The resignation was accepted with regret, and several officers and members testified to the faithful work done by Miss Taunt. Reports of the year’s work were read by the secretary, treasurer, and superintendents of departments. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs. X. Jones; corresponding secretary, Mr. Craig; receiving secretary, Mrs. Dickson; treasurer, Mrs. Whithim; superintendents, crade roll, Mrs. Oliver, band of hope, Mrs. Oliver; evangelistic, Mrs. Cobb; maternity hag and rest room, Mrs. Wilkie; home meetings, Mrs. Fisher; L.T.L., Mrs. Sowry; organist, Miss Cannel; hospital visitor, Miss Hutchens; Maori work, Miss Loveridge; legal and Parliamentary, Mrs. Brash; literature, etc., Mrs. Brash; peace and arbitration, Mrs. Scott; notable days, Mrs. Craig. One new member was initiated.
