The fact was that during the match the team got the first taste of a truly Australian wicket this season.” Mayne said the visitors could have made the local team’s win impossible had they wasted time or bowled so that the batsmen would rarely Obtain a hit. He was satisfied the Englishmen were a giand lot of sports. COVERING THE WICKET. London, Nov. 19. The Marylebone committee confirmed the recommendations of the Advisory Board and requested counties to report at t'he end of the year on the results of their experiences in covering the wicket. ENGLISH TEAM IN AFRICA. Capetown, Nov. 19. The Englishmen against Natal made 17f (Kennedy 44). Billing took four ■wickets for 63, Conyngham five for 90. Natal in the first innings had lost six •wickets for 122 (Taylor not out 58) when stumps were drawn. NORTH V. SOUTH TARANAKI. CHANGES IN NORTH TEAM. Some alterations in the team selected to play for North Taranaki against South on Saturday have become necessary. Lambert is not now available, and, further, having removed from the district, he has been selected for the South team. His place will be filled by Nasmith. Lash is not available and will be replaced by Palmer as Mahraj, who was selected as emergency, is also unable to play. Quickfall remains as the emergency bowler and R. Fletcher (High School) is the emergency bat.
