ELECT RIC LKIHT CARNIVAL. TO BE HELD TO-NIGHT. (From Our Own Reporter.) Hawera, Nov. 19. Cwing to the downpour of rain to-day tlit Amateur Athletic Club's sports carnival, arranged to take place on the Egmont A. and P. grounds to-night, was postponed until to-morrow (Thursday) night. The previously arranged programme will be carried out, commencing at 8 p.m. •Mr. E. V. Dunbar, the Olympic champion, and Now Zealand’s ohanipion javelin thrower and all-round athlete, will be competing, and the best of Taranaki’s amateur talent has entered in the wide variety of events. A musical, vocal and comedy programme will be given, and horse leaping will be a “©tar” item. The grounds are brilliantly lighted, and patrons can be assured of an excellent evening’s sport. A large number of side-shows will be open to the public.
The last South Taranaki Winter Show returned a profit of £952, after £125 was paid in amusement tax l , according to the balance-sheet presented to the executive by the manager (Mr. L. O. Hooker). The financial result constitutes a record.
