Wellington, Oet. ‘25 The New Zealand Dairy Produce Hoard, at its meeting yesterday, con firmed the arrangements made by (he overaoae delegation, for the completion of the shipping contract with the Asaociated Shipping Companies for *a period ending July 3, 1957. The freight rate for butter has been reduced to 4a a Im>< for three years. For the first two years, commenehtg -Novent ber I, Lte4, the freight rate oh cheese is 20-32 of a penny per pound, and for the third year 7-Btha of a penny per pound on (be basis of an'export, of 6?/.»00 tons butter and 05,000 tons cheese.
This represents a saving of £121,875 per annum for the first (wo years and £110,833 for the third year On a per contage basis it is a reduction of 11.1 pe/ cent, on butter and an average reduction for three years of 10.8 pet cent.
