An Ottawa message reports that the Prince of Wales is from a bad cold and has cancelled all his engagements until he sails.
.Mr. J; L. Mander has been appointed works manager of the Taranaki Acid am} Fertilizer W T orks at Smart Road. The Mayor of New Plymouth, Mr. F, E. Wilson, is attending the annual conference of the . Municipal Association, which js being held at Auckland this week.
Mr. ,K. C. Griffiths, of New Plymouth, left by yesterday’s mail train en route to Auckland, where he will act as judge in the Jersey cattle section of the Auckland A. and P. Society’s show.
Sympathetic reference to the late Mr. T. J. Furlong, who was a vice-president and an enthusiastic supporter of the 'New Plymouth Amateur Swimming Club, was me.de at the annual meeting of the club last night, and all members present stood for a minute in silence as a mark of respect to his memory.. The chaiiman (Mr. F. J. Eggleton) remarked that .Mr. Furlong had been a vice-president of . the dub tin.ee its formation.
