THE CHINESE TROUBLE.
CHANG ADVANCING. FALL OF CHAOYANG CERTAIN. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Peking, Sept. 24. The Mukden forces continue to advance, capturing important strategical points Kailu te attacking the second army under General Li-Ching-Lin. The Chihli army suffered many casualties and the Mukden army much fewer. This victory makes the fall of Chaoyang certain. Tlie Chihli troops are retiring on Jehol. where the Christian general’s troops are concentrating with the abject of checking the advance of Chang-Ttee-Lin. There has been no serious fighting at Chanhakwan, although Chingwantao has been bombed. Chang-Tso-Lin has advised foreagnerrf and foreign ships to evacuate Chingwantao, which is Wu-Pei-Fu’s headquarters. The British Consul has advised that if. is desirable to evacuate the pTaee, and it is believed the other Consuls are adopting a similar attitude. Chang-Tso-Lin stated that the defeat of the Chekiang troops would not alter bis plan of campaign. He believes that he is sufficiently strong to defeat Wni-Pei-Fu and he intends attacking Shanghai and Jehol simultaneojsly.
