STRATFORD NEWS.
GENERAL ITEMS. (From Our Own Reporter.) Stratford, Sept. 24. Mr. Percy Thomson, secretary of the local committee of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music, London, advises that the following Stratford children, pupils of the Convent, secured passes in the practical pianoforte examinations held this morning in Stratford by Dr. T. Haigh: — Lower division: Ola Masters, Dulcie Pearce and Francesca Uniacke; local centre, final grade, MSs Beryl Irene Masters; licentiate, associated board, teachers’ diploma, Miss Phyllis Weston (practical and theory) and Miss Eeme Lewers (theory). Attention is drawn to the grand masquerade ball (plain and fancy costume) to be held to-morrow night (Thursday) in the Stratford Town Hall, in aid of the fund to provide uniforms for the band. Free motor lorries will leave Inglewood and Eltham and a large crowd is expected. At a poorly attended meeting in the council chambers to-night, Mr. C. D. Sole wae elected to represent the employees of Stratford on the board of managers of the Stratford Technical High .School.
