SCULLING.
.HADFIELD INJURED. JAIRLY FIT OTHERWISE. By Telegraph.—Press Assoelatioi Auckland. Sept. 24. in reference to the sculling championship Hadfield is quite ready to take up serious oculling again. Unfortunately he met with an accident about a month ago through colliding with a cart while motor cycling. He received injuries to his chest and ’ right arm, and has not yet recovered the full use of his hand. He therefore will not be able to go into a boat for another six weeks, as an attempt at stremw/js sculling might be dangerous. No challenges yet have been received, but he expects word from prominent scullers in Australia and New Zealand. McDevitt, Goodsell and Hannan are mentioned as possible candidates. Apart from his injuries he is fairly fit, a race at Dargaville having helped him in thia respect. Hadfield thinks the Wanganui is the fairest course to row on. It is really an ideal course, well sheltered from ■winds and easy for steering. The only -possible trouble is the presence of timber in the river, in the time of flood. He eaid that the Waikato at Hamilton was totally unfit for big in any case, a sculler was never expected to row against the purrent.
