AGE OF CREDULITY.

POTATOES FOR RHEUMATISM. FUTURE IN TEA-CUPS. (By Wire—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. “We are living in an age of credulity.,” said tihe Minoster for Health (Sir M. Pomare) in the House to-night, “and people are imposed upon to a tremendous extent. Some civilised people go round with potatoes in their pockets to k>ep away rheumatism and some wear metal rings on their fingers to keep away some other kind of evil. The same may be said of those who go in for crystal gazing. They gaze into the crystal and say all sorts of silly things.” Mr. T. M. Wilford: “Some say greenstone is a luck bringer.” "And ever}’ afternoon,” continued the Minister, “ladies are reading cups of tea.” Mr. Speaker: “I am afraid the Hon. Minister is getting away from the Bill.” (Laughter.)
