RAISING LOANS.
NEED NOT GO TO LONDON. THE EXCHANGE POSITION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Replying to a question in the Houee to-day, Mr. Masaey said he was satisfied that the Government and local bodies could refrain from going on the London market to borrow. It would no doubt improve the exchange position. It was no doubt a falct, he added, that those importers who were able to take advantage of it were benefiting by the present position, but of course they could not be interfered wtith so long as they kept within the four corners of the law. He agreed that the consumers were not benefiting to the same extent, and for that reason he was not going to let the matter drop. He did not know how it would work out, but he was going to do his beet to briruz about a better state of things so fax i as exchange was ooncernsd. •,
