INGLEWOOD NEWS.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Inglewood, Sept. 22. The quarterly meeting of the Inglewood Chamber of Commerce was held to-night, the president (Mr. J. Frewin) presiding over an attendance of about twenty. Mr. G. Fraser (president of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce) and Mr. C. E. Bellringer (chairman of the New Plymouth Harbour Board) were also present. The president referred to the success that had attended the community lighting scheme at New Plymouth, and now that power was available he considered that the time was opportune to introduce the system in Inglewood. Members generally favoured the idea, but it was decided to defer consideration till next meeting. The question of fittingly celebrating the jubilee of Inglewood was brought forward by the president. Mr. J. Andrews stated that the Athletic Club proposed holding their sports meeting about that date, and he favoured an evening function also. Failing that he thought a settlers’ picnic might be held. Members strongly favoured fittingly celebrating the jubilee of the town, and they will consider details at a later meeting. The annual meeting was fixed for the October.
