Professor Francis Herbert Bradley, 0.M., the well-known English writer on philoA Sydney message reports the death of Mt. H. G. Smith, a prominent scientific man, aged 72.
A Sydney message reports the death of Mr. Alec Bannerman, an old time famous cricketer.
A Paris message says that M. Anatole France, the famous writer, is seriously ill at Tours. He only leaves his bed for half-an-hour daily and remains very depressed.

Colonel H. F. Greenhough, New Zealand manager for Sir vV. G. Armstrong, Whitworth and Co., Ltd., England, arrived in New Plymouth from Wellington last night. To-day, Colonel Greenhough will discuss harbour matters with the members of the New Plymouth Harbour Board and tomorrow he will return to Wellington. Colonel Greenhough, who is staying at the Criterion Hotel, is accompanied by Mrs. Greenhough.
