SPRING BLOOMS.

DISPLAY AT INGLEWOOD. ST. ANDREW’S SHOW. DETAILS OF AWARDS. The fourth- annual spring flower and bulb show held in connection with St- Andrew’s Anglican Church, Inglewood, was opened yesterday afternoon. Though the weather during the past few days has been by no means favourable/- there was a splendid display, some magnificent blooms being shown, and keen competition was evinced in every section, the exhibits being a distinct improvement on those shown in previous years. The champion bloom of the show was a splendid Weardale Perfection narcissi, exhibited by Mr. R. Henderson, of Inglewood. In addition to the blooms for competition, there were some magnificent collections on exhibition. Mrs. H. B. Lepper, of Lepperton, had a fine display, which compelled admiration, comprising some beautiful bulbs, as well as primula, ranunculis, banksia, Chinese lanterns, etc. Mrs. C. B. Lepper also showed some fine double stocks. Another splendid display of bulbs was made by Mr. J. Gibson, of New Plymouth, a great attraction being some of his seedlings, which included leedsii, White Trumpet, and Incomparabilis, one of the leedsii having a particularly embrocated cup. Messrs. Duncan and Davies also had a fine display of bulbs, pot plants, cut blooms, etc., some of the novelties including the iris Susiana, a heath-like shrub called Lhotzkya, and a rare Australian shrub, Daviesia. The show, which was organised by the St. Andrew’s Ladies’ Guilds of which Mrs. Lindsey is president and Mrs. M. A. T. Evans secretary, proved very successful, and was largely attended. Various stalls well laden and well attended were ranged around the hall and did remarkably good business. The stall-holders were: Fancy, Mesdames F. H. Brown, H. Homer and Perkins; plain, Mesdames S. Crossman, Bublitz, C. O. Roberts and Miss Brown; produce, Mesdames J. Winfield, E. Henderson, D. Clegg and J. H. Winter; sweets, Mrs. Goy and Miss F. Corney; rummage, Mesdames L. J. Carmine, R. Cutfield and Miss Hamerton: tea, Mesdames A. Leech, R. Dansie, J. Burnip, McLaggan and a number of young ladies; Christmas tree, Mrs. A. Gow, Misses DuffiH and J. Pullen; ice cream and soft drinks, Mrs. J. Wilson and Mrs. McAllen.

The Rev. H. Lindsey, vicar of Inglewood, in introducing Archdeacon F. G. Evans, thanked the members of the Ladies’ Guild for their efforts to reduce the liability on the church, which was regarded as one of the best country churches in the diocese. Archdeacon Evans, who opened the show, referred to the splendid work done by the ladies of the parish in the past, particularly mentioning the parish hall, which the Ladies’ Guild, under Mrs. Henry Brown, hsd handed over to the church free of debt. In declaring the show open, he congratulated them on the splendid display of blooms, a tribute to the climate of Inglewood. During the afternoon and evening a number of musical items wore rendered, adding considerably to* the enjoyment. The various competitive sections were judged as follows: Mr. V. C. Davies, cut blooms; Mrs. Haszard, decorative; Mr. Somerton, cookery; and Mrs. H. B. Lepper, preserves. The details of the prize list are:—
