CHEERS FOR THE PRIHCE.
DEMONSTRATION BY CROWD FRIENDLY AMERICANS. HIS VISIT PROLONGED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Sept. 17, 7.40 p.m. New York, Sept. 16. A telegram from Syosset says the Prince of Wales smilingly participated in the ceremony of handing the great silver polo cup back to America. Then he was immediately surrounded and followed for a quarter of a mile across the Meadowbrook grounds by a dense, pushing crowd of American men and women, who were far more interested in looking at the future British King and cheering his graceful gesture of good sportsmanship than in the victory their countrymen had just won. There were cries of three cheers for the Prince and the friendliness of the throng was exhibited in every possible manner. The Prince of Wales appeared to enjoy to-day’s game more than Saturday’s match, waving his hat and clapping his hands when the Britishers scored- So much has the Prince enjoyed his visit on Long Island that although the result of the polo matches is settled, he now plans to remain until Sunday night, when he leaves for Canada.
