THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL.
DEPARTURE THIS MORNING. • FAREWELL TO TARANAKI, BUSY DAY YESTERDAY. His Excellency the Governor -Gen er al (Viswunt Jellicoe) concluded hw farewell visit to New Plymouth yesterday with a round of public and private engagements .that kept him engaged throughout tine day and evening. In the morning His Excellency, accompanied by Lady Jellicoe and the Hon. 'Lucy Jellicoe, were tendered an official farewell from the people of New Plymouth and the surrounding district in Everybody’s Theatre, where in brief speeches their Excellencies were made to feel the warm regard in which they are held by the community and the keen regret that is felt at their impending departure from New Zealand. The vice-regal party was later entertained at morning tea by the council of the Victoria League in the league rooms.
In the afternoon Hie Excellency and the Hon. Lucy Jellicoe were the guests of the New,. Plymouth Golf dub at the links at 'Waiwakaiho.
The Hon. Lucy Jellicoe and Mrs. J. C. Nicholson defeated Mrs. R. H. Quilliam and Mrs. Walter Weston, 4 up and 3to play. His Excellency and Mr. S. Burgess defeated Mr. T. P. Anderson and Dr. E. A. Walker, 3 up and 1 to play. Captain Curtis and Mt. A. Bewiey defeated Messrs F. S. Johns and W. Weston, 5 up and 4.
Lady Jellicoe visited the miountain in company with the Mayoress. At night the vice-regal party attended the ladies’ korerb of the (Savage dub. Their excellencies and suite will return to .Wellington by the mail train this morning.
