GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S TOUR. HAWERA NOT INCLUDED. (From Our Own Reporter, i Hawera, Sept. 13. The Governor-General, Viscount Jellicoe, has telegraphed to Hawera regretting that he will be unable to stay at Hawera during his Taranaki tour. The Mayor (Mr. L. A. Bone), Mr. H. L. Spratt (president) and Mr. J. G. Osborne (business manager), of the Hawera Operatic Society, invited His Excellency to attend the performance of “Our Gibbs” at Hawera, thus giving Hawera an opportunity to farewell the GovernorGeneral. HU Excellency replied stating that owing to other engagements he would be unable to stay at Hawera. He would welcome th© opportunity, however, of bidding farewell to the Mayor, councillors and citizens during, the short stay of the mail train at the Hawera railway station on Thursday morning.
