BURGLARS AT AUCKLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Burglars are still active here, Clarkson’© store at Northcote being entered during Friday night and tobacco worth £lO stolen. An unsuccessful attempt wus made to force a bootmaker’s shop adjoining. WHITE ISLAND FERTILISER. ' Opotiki, Sept. 13. The preliminary work for the exploitation of fertilisers on White Island has been completed. The contractor (Mr. J. Kerr) has erected huts on the southwestern corner, which is the safety zone, has constructed a jetty between the huts and the landing place and has made a road to the huts. LIQUOR FOR MAORI WOMEN. • Opotiki, Sept. 13. At the Police Court, Herbert Seymour Rowe pleaded guilty to five charges of supplying female natives with liquor. He was fined £lO and costs.
