UNEMPLOYED INSURANCE UNNECESSARY IN NEW ZEALAND. STATEMENT BY MINISTER (By Wire—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. A definite announcement that he was not going to introduce an unemployment insurance scheme in New Zealand was made by the Minister for Labour and Pensions (Hon. G. J. Anderson) in th© House to-day in reply to Mr. W, E. Parry (Auckland Central), who stated that in the very near future some consideration would have to be given to a scheme of unemployment insurance. The Minister stated that he had considered this matter in connection with the general question of accident Insurance and pensions, and he was of opinion that in a country like New Zealand it was not necessary to have an unemployment insurance scheme. This was the opinion, also, of experts who he had consulted, so he did not propose to ask the Government to Institute such a scheme. If they dealt with sickness and so forth it would have to be on a general contributory pension scheme. He hoped to deal with this matter somewhat more fully in the course of a w’eek or two when introducing a Bill which was now in the law draughtsman’s hands.
