SUPERANNUATION.
LOCAL BODY EMPIOYEES. ANNUITIES TO WIDOWS A Bill, amending the Act passed in' 1908 to establish a superannuation fund for employees of local authorities, has been circulated. In consideration of increased an* nuity to his widow, on his death, a contributor may make an agreement with the local authority under which h® may accept a reduced retiring allowance, the rate and terms of the annuity ara also a matter for agreement. The annuity shall be in addition to the existing annuity of £lB per annum, wit’i ss. a week for each child, until attain* ing the age of fourteen. Provision is made for applications, which must be lodged within six month* of retirement, to be submitted to actuary appointed by the Governor -Gen • oral, and the local authority may not grant an annuity in excess of the amount recox imended by the actuary unless on terms approved by him.
