SCATHING CRITICISM. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, July 2. The report of the select. committee on the administration of the Housing Board has been tabled in the Assembly. It recommends that the manager, architect and chief clerk be severely censured and dismissed from the service. The committee said the evidence before it showed that the Housing Board did not take the necessary care in the administration of its affairs, but theio was gross mismanagement, carelessness, incompetence and improper conduct on the part of the manager, architect and chief clerk. As the result of their incompetence a large sum of money was lost and further losses must occur. Among instances of mtemunageme'ri the report mentioned that the boa d built houses on land over which it htf.l not a title. In the absence of a proper contract and specifications contracts were entered into with prospective purchasers for amounts which were not sufficient to pay the cost of the 'buildings. The report recommends that the board’s business be closed down immediately.
