DUNEDIN EXHIBITION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. At a meeting of directors of the Exhibition Company to-night it was decided to accept the tender of Fletcher and Love, Dunedin, amounting to £57,318, for the six main buildings in connection with the exhibition. New Zealand timber will be used in the erection of the buildings. BIG FALL OF PAPA ROCK. Gisborne, Last Night. Following torrential downpours near Tatapouri, just north of Gisborne, thousands of tons of papa rock and clay overhanging a new road fell early this evening covering four chains and cutting off the main road. Communication between Gisborne and the East oast townships on the old road, however, is still available for coaches. TEMPTING DAINTIES ON SHOW. Auckland, Last Night. The Dominion bakers’ and pastrycooks’ exhibition opened to-day and includes exhibits from all parts of New Zealand. One expert declared that the cakes and bread were equal to any ever Exhibited in New Zealand or Australia. The sugar and chocolate work showed originality of design and good workmanship. The meringue display also included many novelties. BANK OF NEW ZEALAND. Wellington, May 29. Considerable interest has been shown in the poll for the election of the shareholders’ director for the Bank of New Zealand. The poll was a heavy one. and the count was not completed until late last evening. While the exact figures will not be announced until the annual meeting on June 20, it is understood that Mr. Richard W. Gibbs (Wellington) has been elected by a majority of two to one over Mr. J. H. Gunson (Auckland). CHARGE OF PERJURY. Palmerston N., May 29. In the Police Court Adolph Ihle pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial at the Supreme Court on a charge of perjury arising out of the proceedings in a maintenance case in the Magistrate’s Court on February last. Accused, giving evidence, then stated that he had visited his wife only once during the months of November and December last, and that, during the daytime, whereas it was alleged in evidence that he had frequently visited *<• wife, chiefly la the evening!.
