SEX HYGIENE.
INTRODUCTION IN SCHOOLS. By Telegraph'.—Press Association. Wellington, May 29. What system can be deviBed x for giving proper instruction in sex matters by suitable individuals to school children, and who are suitable individuals for the work? was the difficult problem considered at a conference this morning between representatives of the White Cross League and the Minister for Education, the Minister for Health, and Dr. Ada Patterson. Over an hour was spent in discussion. It was agreed that instruction should be given in the teachers’ training colleges to fit students for the work of imparting advice if they felt this to be their duty in after years; that consideration should be given to the question of obtaining the services of one or two special officers to instruct children on the lines of the system in operation in Tasmania; that a suitable lecture tte should be prepared and circulated amongst headmasters; that high school boards should be invited to nominate representatives to confer on the subject; that a book called “Cradle-ship,” dealing with certain aspects of the problem of life, should be placed in all school libraries.
It was also decided that the two Ministers present should confer with the Minister for Defence with a view to securing the interest and co-operation of the Defence Department in giving instruction to senior cadets.
