CRUELTY TO HORSES.
DEATH AFTER TERRIBLE AGONY. MAN FOUND GUILTY. By Telegraph—Brees Association. Gisborne, Lait Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, William Henry Wright was charged with wilfully committing mischief to a mare at Taneatua.
The evidence showed that one hone had been found dead after terrible agony and another was badly injured internally, both bleeding badly. Accused had been arrested for theft, and when his bedroom was searched the police t found a bottle of corrosive sublimate, tablets of oil of rhodium bluestone, tins of ttixia poison, five plugs of gelignite and automatic firearms and ammunition. Evidence was given that the animal’s death was due to a powerful irritant. A verdict of guilty was returned. Sentence was deferred.
