Wellington, Last NightThe following Government weather forecast was issued at 4 p.m. to-day: “Present indications are for east to south-east winds, strong to gale, with cold, stormy weather, with rain generally. Heavy rain and flooded rivers are probable in many parts of the North Island, in the north-east districts of the South Island, and snow on the higher levels. A cyclone has been centred to-day off the west coast of the North Island. The barometer is falling, but will rise everywhere shortly.’’
