CUSTOMS AND BEER DUTY. INCREASES FOR JANUARY. The first month of the neW year has opened with increased Customs and beer duty revenue at the port of New Plymouth, compared with the corresponding period of last year. The extent of the Customs increase in revenue is £1238 14s Id, and the beer duty £220 1 6s i Bd. The maintenance of the revenue is largely attributable to the-, steady increase in the arrival of overseas imports .at New Plymouth, which is now recognised as one of the main ports of the Dominion.
