dARITZ TO BE TRIED. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Capetown. Dec. 27. Maritz had been living at Lorenzo Marquez for the past six months, waiting in the hope that the Government would allow him to re-enter the Tianavaal. At the time of the war Maritz joined the Germans in South-West Africa, and when the British conquered that territory he escaped into Portuguese territory and was sent to Lisbon. he went to Holland, and eventually settled jn Germany and established a produce agency. He returned to Portuguese East Africa last May, and since has made repeated efforts to prevail on the Government. who informed him that the matter was in the hands of the AttorneyGeneral. It is assumed that Maritz will J;e tried for high treason.
