THE MARRYING AGE.

INCREASE IN BRITAIN. London, Dec. 4. Marriage registers disclose the interesting fact that since 1914 the marrying age has increased by five years. Formerly it averaged from 22 to 23, whereas now it varies from 27 to 28. This is due to several causes, including the housing difficulty, Yqung peoples’ attitude toward marriage h«R changed fundamentally. They are no longer carried away by the picture of a rosy home and endless bliss. They now stop to think, and usually decide to wait until they are a little older, real sing the gravity of their responsibilities. Girls are inclined to be flightier. They have such great opportunities in the modern whirl of frivolities that they are loth to relinquish their freedom. Men are consequently more cautious, and, as they do not reach good business positions until they are about 28 or 30, boy-and-girl marriages have disappeared except in the richest classes. The combined ages are usually about 60.
