HARSH TERMS SUGGESTED. The German peace terms, if the Allies had lost the war, were thus stated by Count Roon in the Prussian Upper House in May, 1918: Annexation of Belgium, Dunkirk, Calais, Boulogne, and the French coast on the Channel, together with Verdun and Belfort. Surrender to Germany of such British coaling stations as she desired, including Malta. Payment of an indemnity, in cash and securities, of £9,000,000,000. Surrender to Turkey of Egypt and the Suez Canal. x Occupation of French territory 'to continue till the terms had been fulfilled and the indemnity paid, the Allies paying, in addition to the indemnity, the entire cost of maintaining the German troops. A part of the German plan of peace w’as the expulsion of the French population in the (French ceded territory. 1 It was disclosed in the Reichstag on April 27, 1921, 'that William 11. expected to get £14,000.000,000 from the United States and France.
