The leaders of various industries are optimistic Welsh merchants expect a most prosperous year if industrial trouble is avoided, the coal trade is in an excellent position; shipbuilders, who complained that work was postponed owing to the uncertainty of the political position, consider that as soon as that is remedied business should be brisk; hosiery manufacturers claim an improvement, although trade with Australia and New Zealand is slight, yet they are hopeful, after preferences are operative, to get a bigger share of orders.
