LEAGUE TRANSFERS. MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING WANTED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copy light Received Dec. .26, 10.50 a.m. London, Dec. 25. The Athletic News states that the Rugby League Council is far from satisfied regarding (he New South Wales League's proposals for a mutual understanding in regard to transfer laws. The Home authorities can hardly accept one vital principle suggested by Australia, and after a brief consideration the niemUers of the council decided that each should present his opinions at the next meeting. The Athletic News adds that the Rugby League clubs, in view of the recent exchange of opinions in connection with the residential qualification of colonial players, will demand some sort of protection for their players. Ic was fully expected that the English proposals would be acceptable to the Sydney authorities, uut the receipt of Sydney’s draft agreement ro-opens the whole question.
