LONDON MARKETS. WOOL SALES CLOSE FIRM. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Dec. 21. The wool salea closed very Ann, with competition well maintained to the finish. Merlms hardened throughout, the best closing fully 5 per cent, above November. Pieces and fauities were often 10 per cent, above November. Greasy met a strong market, closing 10 per cent, up for medium, low 20 per cent. Slipes were keenly competed for, and finer sorts were ’0 to 15 per cent, dearer, shabbier 10 per cent. Scoured met with strong Continental demandFine grades were 10 per cent, up, and others 20 per cent, Lamba sold readily at 10 per cent. up. The Baloluthi clip brought 31 %d. The offerings of the present series totalled 73,315 bales, Australian and New Zealand 71,689 bales. There were practically no withdrawals. Th© Continent bought about 40 per cent. Bradford.—Quiet and business limited. Prices were firm: Ol’s 6o’s 45d, 56's 41Hd, 50's 29d, 46’h 22d, 4U’s 20d. Wheat cargoes are dull, and the market had a holiday character. Parcels are quiet at 3d decline. Flour.—Quiet; Australian 33s to 33s 6c l , ex store. Oats.—Occasionally slightly easier. Peas and Beans.—Steady and nominally unchanged. Sugar.—Granulated, 61s 1 %d. Butter.—Easier Ln a holiday market. New Zealand, choicest, 206 s to 208 s; Australian, 198 s to 200 s. Both types of unsalted at about 4s premium. Danish, about 2145. Cheese.—Dull; New Zealand, white 102 s, coloured 104 s.
